The leaves were falling from the great oak at the meadow’s edge. They were falling from all the trees. One branch of the oak reached high above the others and stretched far out over the meadow. Two leaves clung to it’s very tip.

“It isn’t the way it used to be,” said one leaf to the other.

“No,” the other leaf answered. “So many of us have fallen off tonight we’re almost the only ones left on our branch.”

“You never know who’s going to go next,” said the first leaf. “Even when it was warm and the sun shone, a storm or a cloudburst would come sometimes and many leaves were torn off, though they were still very young. You never know who’s going to go next.”

“The sun seldom shines now,” sighed the second leaf, “and when it does, it gives no warmth. We must have warmth again.”

“Can it be true,” said the first leaf, “can it really be true, that others come to take our places when we’re gone, and after them still others, and more and more?”

“It really is true,” whispered the second leaf. “We can’t even begin to imagine it, it’s beyond our powers.”

“It makes me very sad,” added the first leaf.

They were silent a while.

Then the first leaf said quietly to itself, “Why must we fall?”

The second leaf asked, “What happens to us when we have fallen?”

“We sink down.”

“What is under us?”

The first leaf answered, “I don’t know. Some say one thing, some another, but nobody knows.”

The second leaf asked, “Do we feel anything, do we know anything about ourselves when we’re down there?”

The first leaf answered, “Who knows? Not one of all those down there has ever come back to tell us about it.”

They were silent again. Then the first leaf said tenderly to the other, “Don’t worry so much about it, you’re trembling!”

“That’s nothing,” the second leaf answered, “I tremble at the least thing now. I don’t feel so sure of my hold as I used to.”

“Let’s not talk any more about such things,” said the first leaf.

The other replied, “No, we’ll let it be. But — what else shall we talk about?” It was silent, but went on after a little while. “Which of us will go first?”

“There’s still plenty of time to worry about that,” the other leaf said reassuringly. “Lets remember how beautiful it was, how wonderful, when the sun came out and shone so warmly that we thought we’d burst with life. Do you remember? And the morning dew and the mild and splendid nights…”

“Now the nights are dreadful,” the second leaf complained, “and there is no end to them.”

“We shouldn’t complain,” said the first leaf gently. “We’ve outlived many, many others.”

“Have I changed much?” asked the second leaf shyly.

“Not in the least,” the first leaf said. “You think so only because I’ve gotten to be so yellow and ugly. But it’s different in your case.”

“You’re fooling me,” the second leaf said.

“No, really,” the first leaf answered eagerly, “believe me, you’re as lovely as the day you were born! Here and there may be a little yellow spot. But it’s hardly noticeable and makes you only more beautiful, believe me.”

“Thanks,” whispered the second leaf, quite touched. I don’t believe you, not altogether, but I thank you because you’re so kind. You’ve always been so kind to me. I’m just beginning to understand how kind you are.

“Hush,” said the other leaf, and kept silent itself, for it was too troubled to talk anymore.

Then they were both silent. Hours passed.

A moist wind blew, cold and hostile through the treetops.

“Ah, now,” said the second leaf, “I…” Then it’s voice broke off. It was torn from it’s place and spun down.

Winter had come.

Let's do a little bit of a review: 30 days and 43 recipes blogging... ya dee ya da ya da. Its past September 6th and, no, I haven't completed 43 recipes and posted them on the blog. I just haven't had the time. I will continue to bake and cook though, not necessarily post them on the blog but I will do my best. I just bought some baking things so maybe I'll make cupcakes or something. Let's see what I've been up to shall we? Here's some pictures:

Well peach cobbler actually.My idea to fill my time up with cooking and baking hasn't gone like I would have liked.The idea was becuase I had nothing to do, to occupy my time.Amazing how just after that post I became busy! With trips to the doctors,camping,having people over and life! I've been kept quite busy.hence the Lack of food and posts. However I did make a peach cobbler the other day. I took a picture but I can't find it.Here's the recipe I used:

Ingredients

4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
8 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/2 cups milk
Ground cinnamon, optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.

Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.

Its from the Food Network site. The problem I had though was I used canned peaches and it ended up being to syrupy and the crust didn't really harden/come up.It was still pretty good though. Hopefully i'll start making some more food!

Just to set the record straight, no these will not be Julie Child recipes (at least not all, maybe none - we'll see).

What time is it? Summer time! Actually this post is a bit late since summer will be over in
39 days,952 hours,57140 minutes and 3428435 (from 7:30) seconds. It seems to be going so fast.Well there has to be something good about Fall right? Like.. Thanksgiving! Yeah! Turkey,mashed potatoes,cranberry sauce, family. There's pumpkin carving, getting those pumpkin innards all over yourself and the table..ahh good times. And then there's always birthdays too,I can sorta kinda remember a couple peoples birthdays that happen in the fall..September was it? Lily and I rode the quad today. We were going through the woods, the pasture

and in the mud and stuff.

But then we came across a huge spider web and spider blocking the path. We
just stopped and looked at it and looked at each other. Lily said, "What are
we going to do, Leeyah?" After getting all muddy and wet one would assume
that this would be no big deal. But spiders and mud are two very opposite
things. Yes, we ended up riding through it and it was gross. The end.

BTW that picture is not us - haha. If you couldn't tell it's just a random

guy off of the motorcycle site. But our quad looks almost the exact same as

that. Except that its dented, dirty and there is a spider on it
somewhere.

A couple weeks ago Lily turned 7 so the Epp's came over and the Vanderhoff's and Grandma and Grandpa and we had a party. But first the kids played outside since it was so nice outside. And Lily decided to catch and hold the chickens.

Georgi and Gideon also joined in the fun.

Then on Friday we went to a baby shower for Mikayla Post. She is such a pretty baby!

Pretty soon were going to be having two more in our family!! =)

Fasten your seat belts! This is going to be a long one! Hmm.. Lets start with Monday I guess... First my sister posted this picture, then Sunday dad got a call from Georgi telling him that they had cap'n crunch and he should come see them. So on Monday we (excluding Nate since he had school) went up to Seattle.

Today we (my family and I) went To Guitar Center (Nate's fave) then Ikea to eat Swedish Meatballs and Buy bed frames..Woot, woot!

Okay I know I don't need anymore pictures but they were having a sale down in the warehouse and it was two for 0.50$.. I couldn't pass it up okay? And then there was the spring form cake pans that I also purchased..But that's a whole other blog post in itself.

     So really this was a stellar Monday and I'm going to savor the last 25 minutes of it =) Happy Monday!

Yep. We finally have some snow here!! It stopped snowing about half an hour or so ago, but it was snowing quite heavily. I really want it to stick and snow some more, but the news said that it's going to warm up tonight and melt.But you never know! Now I'm going to go drink hot chocolate and watch the Cosby show. So, (I think I start all my post's with so :P) I was bored this evening. And I was googling Christmas backgrounds and regular backgrounds and I really was going to do a Christmas background really truly..until I saw this...haha. It actually was a little bit of work downloading and uploading it and things but I have to say I think it was worth it(vanity,vanity yes I know). And then One thing led to another..I thought if I wasn't going to have a Christmas background I would have some Christmas songs so I went here and picked out some songs. And Then I thought I would write a post about what I had done. But before I did that I remebered thinking about Christmas that I was going to Find out If Five guys was open tomorrow. Yep, we just got a Five guys burger and Fries in Hazel dell! What is Five guys you may ask Check it If I were you I would just skip down to the menu haha. So that is how I spent my evening Cause I'm sure you were just dying to know.

So, this week has been crazy busy. On Monday I went with Esther to
Sarah's house to help her clean and babysit (Sarah is expecting in
August) and we stayed until Wednesday afternoon. Thursday, my
sister Hannah and her family came over from Boise. They got in late
so we didn't see them Thursday. Also, Thursday night, mom taught the
women's meeting at church and Nate and I went to the mall and did our
Christmas shopping. Friday, Hannah and Jim came over for and hour or so
in the morning. That afternoon at 3:00 I was supposed to have my
violin lessons but I waited there for quite a bit and the teacher never came
(later to call and say he was stuck in traffic or something like
that). Then we went to Fred Meyer's, Jack-in-the box, and then Battle
ground High School for another concert with "When In Doubt - Shout". This
time as a fundraiser for TOMS
shoes. Saturday was the craziest day. On Saturday we had
grandparents, cousin's, nephews, parents, nieces, uncles and aunts over.
At around ten'o'clock people started showing up for a breakfast of
cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, breakfast casserole, coffee, orange
juice, breakfast bars and tons of fruit. Then the madness
began..PRESENTS!!! The organizing was crazy but mostly everyone got
their own presents which was good. And then after the opening we just
vegged which was fun, The boys played video games, most of the adults
played Cattan, and the littles drove those remote control cars through
the house like nobody's business. In the evening we went to
uncle Daryl and aunt Michele's house and hung out for awhile. Sunday,
we went to church and then had an open house here from 4-till whenever
people left;) So it was a busy but fun week! And seeing as I don't have
pictures up yet we shall have to wait for them and this post shall be
without pictures!!eek!!

Thats the sound of my sister points racking up. whaat? does that mean??? that means tonight when I made dinner (meatloaf,mashed potatoes,corn,brownies and some french bread) I got the most amazing compliment in the world! Do you have a brother? if yes then you'll know what I mean when I say impressing them is uber hard . If you don't have a brother well then..............HA you thought I was going to say your LUCKY but I wasn't I was going to say i'm.....sorry..yep I am I really am. even though we don't get along all the time, or even half the time I love my brother and I'm pretty sure he loves me (or he's been faking it all these years) anyways.. back to my first train of thought. The compliment! So he had to hurry up and eat dinner becuase he was going to his youth group tonight. And before he left, standing in the kistchen he said: "Lydia" and I said "yes" with my mouth stuffed with potatoes "and then he said "Thank you for the Wonderful dinner" my forkfull of mashed potatoes stopped midway between my mouth and my plate. Okay, so we all know I'm not the best cook or baker in the world..or
the state..or the city..or even in the neighborhood (and considering
we have 6 neighbors)..well I have no high hopes for my cooking career.
anyhoo
Yesterday was my day to make dinner. Gasp! I made the only thing that
had at least a remote chance of turning out ~ Mexican. I started this

at about 4:00 p.m. and ended at about 6:00 p.m. But hey, that's beside the
point.
Anyways, I was in the kitchen cooking up a storm. I decided to
surprise everyone and make a dessert too! This was at about 4:30.

I still had energy and didn't know any better so I flipped through a
couple of cookbooks and finnally decided on apple crisp (it seemed the
easiest). So I proceeded to get out four green apples and washed them.

But never having made an apple crisp before and my mother not being

home proceeded NOT to peel the first apple and after having put it
into the pan it didn't seem right for the skins to be on so I

corrected my error and peeled the rest of the apples (one or two somehow

managed to still have the skins on them). I put the apples on the bottom and
then added some blueberries from our bushes and another little berry
that I'm not exactly sure what it was. It looked like a blackberry but
it was littler then a blackberry but it was sweet so it wasn't just an
unripe berry..hmmm nothing poisonous I don't think since we didn't die in

our sleep. Time will tell I guess. The dinner turned out good and the dessert turned out better. I was actually quite happy with the results. though a little tart, with some vanilla ice cream it was quite tasty. I'm off to have a bowl while I watch this.

I went to the Bowens Saturday and then spent the night. we jumped on the trampoline in the dark and took pictures, listened to music,went on Facebook and looked at pictures,talked to my sister on facebook, watched Confessions of a shopaholic (and ate candy), walked down to Albertson's (these are in no particular order), and stayed up into the wee hours of the night/morning talking.. Yep it was a good weekend.

well it could really be in the form or shape of almost anything,

Well like this Jackson Pollock painting which back then would have been a queer way to paint a picture, however it turned into a "b-eautiful disaster"

So on to my own B-eautiful disaster:

today for breakfast/lunch I created a face only a mother could love..on top of my waffle:

you may be asking yourself HOW DO I MAKE THAT!?? but somehow I doubt thats what your asking..

but anyhoo heres how you would make it if your brave, (or crazy,)or bored, or you have a box of peaches in your house that you don't know what to do with like we do:

it appears to be a slightly burnt waffle, just so the peaches won't leak through becuase who likes soggy waffles??

With about ten little slices of peach sprinkled on top

and on top of that some syrup and a little glob of whip-cream

YEAH BABY!!

And actually I know it sounds horrendous but it wasn't terrible, it was almost good.

Yes Little boy that I don't know that randomly came up to me at the Rollerskate arena, that would take all effort out of rollerskating... But hey It was FUN..... yep I went rollerskating the actual rollerskating with four wheels and everything.. It was pretty dang exciting..and guess what?! I didn't fall, I may of flailed around, stumbled, dove into the benches but I did not fall..yes I'm quite proud of it too. So happy Birthday Tucker even though its not for another three days. Your growing up so fast! Love you!

Haha well I told myself so, so you don't need to tell me.. I knew I wasn't going to be able to accomplish as much on word-press as blogger. Everything felt so different and weird and I thought it was going to be easier and some of it was but not enough of it. And I'm all about easy here folks I have like twenty of those easy buttons. soo as you can see I'm back. Since June 11 alot of things have happened for instance yesterday we got back from COR fusion and that twas alot of fun but since I was busy "Fusing" I didn't take very many pictures. sorry..but since this blog is pretty picture overloaded I thought I could get away with not posting any.. so I might just have to post more regularly now because I did kinda miss it.. A few words to sum up my mother are: loving,hard worker,encouraging and friendly.without my mother I would have a sad and dull life. Let me tell you my mothers (every) Friday schedule: 7 or 8 (sometimes earlier) get up get breakfast and get us up. (us meaning Nate and I which is not an easy job) 10 leave the house with us, drop Nate off so he can teach music lesson's. Go somewhere with me till 12 then pick Nate up get lunch, then at 12:45 drop us off at the Bowen's for science. Take Tucker and Lily somewhere, pick me up at 3:40 to go to violin lesson's. At 4:00 take tucker and Lily back to Sarah, turn around and pick me back up at 4:30. Drop Nate off at Drivers Ed at 5:00. Get dinner then pick Nate up at 7 get him dinner. Drive home, getting there at around 7:45. I don't know about you but looking at this schedule makes me tired, and usually I'm the one complaining about how tired I am or how I don't want to go, and I'm just in the backseat. My mom countlessly with out thinking of her self does things for others. have I mentioned every Wednesday she works from one to four counseling here? and that doesn't include all the unexpected times she has to go meet someone or counsel another person. somehow on top of this insane schedule she still has time to care for her family most of the time without even a thank you. So today (and I need to get on a routine for everyday) I want to honour you and thank you for all that you do. Happy birthday mom I love you soo much!!

I remember I remember when...... We would ride are bikes (mine at the time was a tricked out John deer tricycle) around and around are little round about. we would climb up a ladder into are secret fort and dump pine cones on the neighbour kids. when you had your very own spy club and I was allowed to join, you made my day. when you asked to "use" my bike and ended up in the hospital with 36 stitches in your chin. or when you went dirt biking and the next time I saw you you were in the hospital with your knee split open, or dare I mention a Sunday afternoon motorcycle ride turning into a Sunday afternoon hospital run with a broken wrist. or all the times you would want to go to the park and be forced to take your baby sister.or (last or I promise) when we spent a week in the car together... How the time does fly I love you Nathanael and I hope you have a GREAT Birthday!

Now selling in tons of flavors..there's Carmel,marshmallow(sounds gross but its actually pretty tasty),kettle corn (my favorite) a salty sweet blend of perfection,butter,movie theatre butter,lite butter,organic popcorn which is dry and probably more that I'm forgetting since butter is like 25 choices in itself and that doesn't even include the brands of popcorn! well sorry for the randomness of this post but eating popcorn inspired me to share that and utterly bordness :) popopopopopopoppopopopopopopopopopopop goes the POP.corn

we have this gimp elk that lives on our property in the woods and he got close enough today for me to capture some pics

I suggest cooking or baking something..I decided on potato salad

It takes QUITE awhile for that flimsy amount of salad...

My surprise that it actually came out..usually they don't....I made sure that
the salt intake of the salad was carefully measured this time X)

After all those months of boot camp,
This is how it aspires,

I hope their prayers are flying to the heavens
